Essential Job Summary
Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. They also perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI), troubleshoot, repair and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment, ensuring accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components. Additional responsibilities include:
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
Washes vehicles and equipment.
Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
Performs other maintenance related work as required.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic
Hydraulics experience is required
Experience with troubleshooting/repairing DPF systems diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
Working knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations
A valid driver’s license is required. CDL preferred
Assists with service calls for breakdowns
Prior experience from waste management industry experience is a plus
Trade school or similar training is a plus
Knowledge of safety procedures and practices
Must be able to provide own tools.
Perform other duties as assigned.
