Position Purpose:
As a crucial part of our food supply chain, our delivery drivers ensure timely and safe delivery of essential products to clients, fostering strong relationships as the face of our company.
Drivers will navigate a tractor trailer or straight truck for local, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, delivering food and related products while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Primary Responsibilities: Communicate and engage professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to provide accurate and timely information. Collaborate with team members and perform all duties that best serve the company. Conduct required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) and inspect equipment to ensure compliance with DOT regulations. Report safety concerns or needed repairs promptly. Adhere strictly to DOT regulations and company driving policies. Identify and report safety hazards; inspect loaded freight for security. Perform count checks of loaded items and verify invoices accurately. Transport the truck to the loading dock and attach trailers as necessary. Follow predetermined delivery routes to fulfill customer orders. Unload products and transport items to designated storage areas at customer sites. Conduct damage control checks, scan items, and communicate with supervisors about any issues as per company policy. Confirm deliveries with customers and obtain necessary signatures. Collect payments (cash or checks) when required and ensure secure loading of customer returns. Secure trailers, ensuring safety of the tractor, trailer, and freight at all times. Unpack damaged goods and return customer items, completing all necessary paperwork. Maintain daily records of service hours in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements. Perform general cleaning duties for equipment and vehicles as needed. At the end of the shift, ensure all equipment is secured and complete required paperwork accurately. Undertake additional duties as directed. Qualifications: Minimum 12 months of commercial driving experience. High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Valid Class A CDL. Comply with all state licensing and certification requirements. Must be at least 21 years old. Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years. Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check. Successfully pass a road test. Possess a valid current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one. Ability to hand-lift and utilize tools like two-wheelers and lift gates for moving freight, which may weigh up to 90 pounds.
