Location: El Segundo, CA

Join the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team as a Systems Engineer to design and develop state‑of‑the‑art satellite systems for commercial, civil and national security programs. As a system engineer you will apply common products, processes and tools across subsystems to achieve programmatic objectives, working with Commercial, Government and Proprietary customers to develop and deploy next‑generation space technologies.

Responsibilities

Collaborate across subsystems within the space segment to plan, design, develop and verify complex spacecraft systems throughout the lifecycle.

Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrating technical parameters and ensuring compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

Conduct analyses to optimize the overall system of systems and/or system architecture.

Identify unassigned scope and ensure proper distribution of responsibilities.

Participate in cross‑functional technical issue resolution.

Lead or participate in system and segment‑level trades, including technical, cost, schedule aspects.

Serve on space segment level boards such as Risk, Issue and Opportunity (RIO) Board or Engineering Review Board (ERB).

Integrate statement of work (SOW) and technical specifications into the IPT workflow to ensure contractual compliance.

Create and maintain requirements and model‑based system engineering infrastructures (e.g., DOORS, CAMEO), leading efforts to trace performance and functional requirements to lower levels.

Forecast and track compliance activities to verify requirements fulfillment and satisfy customer reporting obligations.

Respond to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) from the customer.

Plan and execute space system engineering events (e.g., Segment Requirement Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, developmental gates) and apply Boeing command media to ensure criteria are met.

Represent space system engineering in events led by other IPTs (e.g., Manufacturing and Test Readiness Reviews).

Support the program in evolving roles, such as assisting the Assemble, Integration and Test (AI&T) IPT as a test engineer or oversight role to resolve Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs).

Potentially perform similar oversight roles at the Launch Site or Mission Operations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science or computer science.

Experience:

Level 3 (Experienced): 5+ years related work experience.

Level 4 (Lead): 9+ years related work experience.

Level 5 (Senior): 14+ years related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in satellite system design, development or test; ability to work with customers, program office and interdisciplinary teams; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Security Clearance & Relocation • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). A clearance active within the past 24 months is acceptable. • Relocation is offered for eligible candidates; basic relocation will be provided for eligible internal candidates.

Shift & Safety • Shift: 1st shift (Day). • Safety Sensitive: This position is subject to random drug testing and includes a drug‑free workplace policy.

Total Rewards & Compensation Competitive base pay and variable compensation are offered. Pay varies by level and experience.

Salary Ranges:

Level 3 (Experienced): $104,550 – $141,450

Level 4 (Lead): $128,350 – $173,650

Level 5 (Senior): $157,250 – $212,750
