Amazon Redshift is a rapidly growing, fully managed, petabyte‑scale data warehouse service in the cloud. It enables customers to dramatically increase their query performance when analyzing virtually any size data set using the same SQL‑based business intelligence tools they use today. At the center of the Redshift data warehouse is a team responsible for building the most intelligent and performant query execution engine. This team uses data from our service deployment to determine and deliver high‑value projects, including the development of novel query execution techniques for industry‑leading performance. Key Job Responsibilities
Take overall responsibility for growing and leading a database software development team responsible for rethinking the assumptions behind traditional databases to build and grow the database service in the cloud. Shape a culture of innovation and serve your team of engineers so that they can leverage their full potential and grow. Mentor a team of talented and experienced software engineers, complete hands‑on technical work and provide leadership on complex technical issues, design trade‑offs, and feature and schedule prioritization. Work with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, influencing our technical and business strategy. Define groundbreaking products and hire and lead a high‑performing team. A Day in the Life

3+ years of engineering team management experience. 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams. 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling). Experience partnering with product or program management teams. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering. Leadership position in a team delivering a query execution engine or distributed systems. Experience influencing engineering best practices in your organization. Experience with database internals such as query optimization and execution.
