The Senior Payroll Specialist is a seasoned Workday payroll professional and has primary responsibility for processing biweekly payrolls and special payroll runs ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Responsible for working with the outsource service provider on the implementation of tax updates and complex payroll tax issues.

Essential Functions for this role include:

Process biweekly payrolls accurately and timely in Workday. Create and run payroll audit reports to ensure accuracy of payroll data before and after payroll is completed. Run the payroll complete process for all biweekly and on demand off-cycle payrolls.

Support payroll configuration setup in Workday: earnings, deductions, pay groups, company tax set up, W2 data forms, and integrations.

Support the design and architecture of payroll processes within Workday, including cadence changes during annual releases.

Set up garnishment vendors, process court ordered wage garnishment, including child support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, and state and federal tax levies. Ensure payroll deductions and payments are accurate and processed timely after each pay cycle.

Cross-train with team members, provide guidance and feedback in payroll processes and overall payroll processes improvements. Participate in team projects, meetings, or other duties as requested.

Assist with the review of tax agency notices and work with internal teams to initiate any new state registrations.

Assist with quarter-end and year-end processing by working with third party service provider to ensure accurate tax filings every quarter such as 941s and W2s annual reconciliation.

Provide the highest level of customer service to employees at all levels of the corporation with complex payroll and tax issues.

Implement internal controls and support and participate in internal and external audits.

Performs other duties as assigned.

If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:

Minimum 3 years of hands-on Workday Payroll experience including configuration, testing, and support.

Strong understanding of Workday architecture, business process framework, and integrations. Familiarity with uploading EIBs, time tracking, absence, compensation, and benefits.

Must have expertise and knowledge of wage and hour regulations, FLSA and federal/state regulations and multi-state payroll processing, including Final Pay rules by state.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy and passionate about improving workflows and processes.

Self-motivated with the desire for ownership and the ability to operate independently in a fast paced, ever changing and innovative environment while working collaboratively across multiple functions.

Excellent interpersonal and writing skills and comfortable communicating with employees.
