Gilbane is seeking an Estimator II to serve as lead estimator on small or less complex projects. On larger jobs, may assist the lead estimator in quantity take-off and unit pricing for development of estimate deliverable. This is an office based role located in our Charlotte, NC office.

In addition, you will work under the direction of experienced Sr. Estimators and the Chief Estimator which provides you with opportunity to learn new industry skills every day.

Responsibilities

Lead detailed reviews of civil, architectural, and structural subcontractor’s budget pricing; obtain and present unit pricing data

Outline clarifications and qualifications within an estimate

Secure and contact sources for cost estimates for all specialty items

Identify indirect costs and General Condition items within estimate

Possess and apply knowledge of unit prices and the material/labor components

Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing

Produce manpower estimates to coincide with construction estimate

Compile complete estimate/bid package breakdown based on input from others

Establish estimating protocols for specific types of documentation

Use Gilbane’s Baseline estimating playbook and tools

May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions

Experience & Education Associate’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management; bachelor’s degree preferred

Qualifications

1-5+ years of relevant experience

Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of On‑Screen Take‑off, Destini, and Site work software tools for take‑offs

Ability to complete quantity takeoffs for assigned divisions or building components

Ability to obtain and scope trade contractor budget pricing proposals

Ability to provide qualifications and clarifications for items that were quantified

Strong written and verbal skills

Ability to work in a team‑based environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Understanding of Contract Document and Specifications

Knowledge of applying unit costs to quantity takeoff for discipline specific estimates

Ability to assist the estimating lead with the compilation of the estimating deliverables
