FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but you must effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to verify property occupancy and report the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Submit the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Be able to drive extended periods while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, and higher volume counties have lower rates. The work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
