FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to perform inspections. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5-6 minutes
Complete each inspection within 4 days after assignment
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments
Complete a short form in an app
Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as gas is paid for by the inspector)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license
Pay & Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
