Vice President, Design & Construction Management
Empire State Development seeks a Vice President to oversee design and construction across multiple departments including Real Estate, Loans and Grants. The role involves managing project design, procurement, and construction execution to ensure projects meet budgets, timelines, and compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Responsibilities
Represent ESD in overseeing all elements of project design, development of design guidelines, and construction administration to complete projects within budget and on time. Create and implement quality assurance, constructability review, integrity monitoring, and institutional controls to assure compliance with design requirements and applicable laws. Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams, vendors, contractors, stakeholders, and governmental agencies in a fast‑paced environment. Generate and review technical reports, plans, estimates, schedules, and status reports as needed. Track Real Estate Development & Planning projects during construction, ensuring compliance with General Project Plans and addressing issues promptly. Manage design and construction staff working in multiple departments. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture and/or engineering; preference for graduate degree. Experience: Minimum 7 years in project management and oversight of large‑scale construction projects. Competencies
Preference for New York State license as a Professional Architect or Engineer. Superior project management and leadership skills. Demonstrable on‑site construction experience. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Understanding of federal, state, and local permitting and environmental review requirements. Ability to develop, manage, and adhere to budgets and deadlines for large projects. Experience working effectively within and managing interdisciplinary teams. Benefits
