Thoracic Surgeon, Clinician Educator (Lung Procurement, ECMO, and ex vivo lung perfusion) We are seeking a full‑time, non‑tenure eligible Assistant or Associate Professor to join the Canning Thoracic Institute of Northwestern Medicine and the Division of Thoracic Surgery of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The position will be located in Chicago, IL.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide procurement services for lung transplantation.

Assist in lung implantation and perform ECMO transport services.

Assist in ex vivo lung perfusion.

Provide a wide range of thoracic surgical services in Northwestern Medicine’s Central region, including shared service call, rounding and caring for pre‑op and post‑op patients, and responding to local consultation requests and referrals.

Participate in academic programs of the Feinberg School of Medicine, including didactic teaching, resident training, preceptorship, and mentoring.

Engage in research programs as appropriate.

Qualifications

Strong clinical background in thoracic surgery.

Completed an ACGME‑accredited thoracic surgery fellowship/residency or equivalent.

Board‑eligible or board‑certified in thoracic surgery.

Eligible for permanent medical licensure in Illinois.

Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor trainees.

Preferred Start Date

– July 1, 2025. Position remains open until filled.
