Surgical Technologist (CST) – Orthopedic Operating Room

32 Seymour - Bone & Joint Institute (10341)
Shift:
Monday – Friday, 4 10‑hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM); weekend, weeknight or holiday call obligation.
Sign‑on bonus offered.

Job Description:
Maximize patient safety by providing service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Ensure presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies for each operation.
Assist the surgeon during the operation within professional and legal standards.
Assist with cleaning of the operating room post‑operation and proper routing of equipment and used material.
Report to the BJI Operating Room Manager.
Qualifications:
Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Surgical Technology Program.
Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) or ability to obtain NBSTA certification within one year of employment.
CPR and BLS validation with attendance of annual Validation Day.
Knowledge of various surgical procedures and ability to anticipate the surgeon’s needs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding the maintenance of sterile field.
Knowledge and practice of basic care and patient safety concepts.
Application of asepsis principles for optimal patient care.
Knowledge of OR emergency situations.
