Base pay range $172,150.00/yr - $256,983.00/yr

Summary The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veteran Affairs mission. The CRNA provides advanced clinical practice – consultation and management. The CRNA administers anesthesia in both inpatient and outpatient settings to patients of all health complexities. The aspects of practice include direct patient care, administration, education, and research activities.

Duties

Initiating the anesthetic technique which may include general, regional, local, and IV sedation

Selecting, applying, and inserting appropriate non‑invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of the patient's physical status

Selecting, obtaining, and administering the anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic

Managing a patient's airway and pulmonary status using current practice modalities

Facilitating emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, obtaining, ordering, and administering medications, fluids, and ventilator support

Discharging the patient from a post‑anesthesia care area and providing post‑anesthesia follow‑up evaluation and care as needed

Responding to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques

Implies acute pain management modalities
