Job Summary:
The Department of Oral Biology in The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to teach dental students, dental residents and graduate students, including pharmacology and/or physiology. This position is tenure track.
Responsibilities
Teaching (35%) – Pre‑doctoral dental students, dental residents, and graduate students. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Scholarship (60%) – Conduct independent research and collaborate with faculty within the Dental College of Georgia, the broader AU community, and external partners.
Service (5%) – Engage in service activities needed by the department, college, institution, and scientific community.
Qualifications
Required:
Ph.D. in physiology or pharmacology, and/or dental qualification (DDS or equivalent). Record of productive scholarship of national significance, preferably related to diseases of the head and neck. Record of didactic instruction.
Demonstrated record or potential for teaching in physiology or pharmacology, obtaining extramural funding, and high‑impact publications.
Assistant professor level: early‑career faculty with appropriate background and training.
Associate professor level: at least five years at the rank of assistant professor.
Professor level: at least five years at the rank of associate professor.
Consistent with SACSCOC accreditation requirements and successful experience as a teacher and scholar.
Preferred
MD;
Teaching experience in physiology or pharmacology;
Experience writing and submitting research funding applications.
Shift / Salary / Benefits Fiscal year based, works year‑round. Full‑time equivalent (FTE) 1.0. Assistant, Associate, and Professor salaries commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.
