What You’ll Be Doing This position will be responsible for two or more Equity Residential apartment communities, including garden‑style or high‑rise properties, and is accountable for delivering on resident commitments of exceptional move‑in, total satisfaction, express service, and personal attention. The Multi‑Site Maintenance Manager leads all aspects of the property's hands‑on maintenance, overseeing inspections, repairs and scheduled maintenance of apartments and other interior/exterior areas. As a working supervisor, you will direct a team of service professionals to maintain the community in excellent condition at all times.
Partner with the Community Manager to accomplish property objectives
Ensure service staff performance meets Equity standards and resident requests are handled promptly, courteously, and efficiently
Maintain open and clear communication with the Property Manager, on‑site staff and residents
Assist service staff with duties as needed
Prepare or assist in preparing market‑ready apartments
Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety requirements
Work with general service staff to maintain grounds and common areas and keep them free of trash, debris, and, if applicable, snow
Perform on‑call emergency service as required
Order and control maintenance inventory
Complete regular community inspections
Perform scheduled maintenance functions
Monitor maintenance and upkeep of all mechanical equipment in the community
Prepare weekly/monthly status reports for the Property Manager
Be knowledgeable of federal and state apartment housing laws, internal policies, initiatives and systems regarding maintenance
Attend and participate in training programs as required
Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times
Perform other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need To Thrive
Hands‑on general service maintenance experience
Residential or commercial property management, hospitality, or retail experience
EPA Section 608 Type I and Type II or Universal certification within 90 days of hire (if required)
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license, good driving record, auto insurance and reliable transportation (required if operating a motorized vehicle during the workday)
Computer literacy and effective verbal and written communication in English
Ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC equipment (if applicable) and perform interior repairs and painting
Willingness to work any assigned shift, including weekends; possible on‑call responsibilities outside normal hours
Certified Pool Operator (required in Georgia, Florida, Los Angeles, and North Carolina)
Strong physical stamina for prolonged standing, walking, climbing, sweeping, kneeling, shoveling and lifting up to 50 lbs
Use of a personal smartphone for certain job functions (must be updated, password protected, and compliant with company security)
