Director – Utilities & Midstream, US Corporates – New York Join Fitch Ratings as a Director covering the Utilities and Midstream sector, based in New York, Chicago, or Toronto. You will lead coverage analysis, model building, and stakeholder communication in a team‑oriented, high productivity environment.

We’ll Count On You To

Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing credit quality of companies in the Utilities and Midstream sectors.

Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models.

Conduct meetings with Retail & Consumer industry management teams.

Present analysis of companies to internal credit rating committees.

Communicate rating rationale to external audiences (institutional investors, sell‑side analysts and media) in meetings, conference calls, press releases and written research reports.

Write timely and effective research on topical issues.

Participate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates and related credit groups.

Represent Fitch in panel discussions and conferences arranged by industry associations and regulatory bodies.

Mentor junior members of the Utilities & Midstream sector.

The role may include managerial responsibilities.

What You Need To Have

Bachelor’s degree minimum; MBA or other advanced degree a plus.

CFA, CPA or CFA candidate preferred.

5–10 years relevant experience, ideally with coverage or knowledge of the Utilities and Midstream sectors.

Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience a plus.

Expertise in Excel and Word.

Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change.

Ability to excel in a team‑oriented environment.

What Would Make You Stand Out

Knowledge of and interest in the Utilities and Midstream industries.

Professional background in capital markets and/or credit analysis with well‑developed financial statement analysis skills.

Desire to deepen exposure to and understanding of the debt capital markets.

Strong leadership pattern and ability to proactively interact with stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.

Salary For New York and California roles, expected base pay ranges from $140,000 to $180,000, subject to individual factors such as education, training, experience and performance. Total compensation may include commission, discretionary bonuses, long‑term incentives and other benefits.
