The Boston University School of Social Work is seeking a highly organized, customer-service-oriented, and proactive Finance and Administrative Specialist to support the day-to-day operations of the Dean's Office. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of administrative processes, event logistics, and executive support. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Finance and Administrative Specialist serves as a key member of the Finance and Administration team, contributing to the operational efficiency of the school. In this role, you will provide comprehensive support across administrative, financial, and operational functions. Key responsibilities include overseeing records and documentation, maintaining internal communications and the school’s website, and ensuring efficient office operations. Financial duties involve interpreting policies, overseeing transactions, monitoring budgets, conducting reconciliations, and providing training and guidance to faculty and staff, while serving as a liaison with central university units. Operationally, the role manages facilities requests, building projects, and event logistics, and contributes to special projects and strategic initiatives to advance the school's goals. Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented problem solvers who thrive in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication and organizational skills, and bring strong judgment and initiative to their work. Experience in financial administration or higher education is a plus.
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree required.
3 years of relevant experience.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with social media and website management preferred.
Prior experience in an academic or research environment is a plus.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
