Inpatient Psychiatrist / Physician – Full Time (MO Licensed Required)
Schedule:
Monday–Friday (standard FT) or 4×10 option
Setting:
Adult Inpatient Psychiatry
Commitment:
Minimum 3 months with strong preference for long-term extension
Credentialing:
2 weeks
Position Overview We are seeking a physician with strong experience working with
severely mentally ill adult populations , with preference for candidates who have experience in
corrections or forensic psychiatry . This inpatient role involves managing a specialized, high-acuity patient population split between two secure facilities:
50% Severe Mental Health Hospital Patients are typically high-acuity, many entering through the criminal court system after
Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI)
rulings.
50% Sexual Predator Treatment Facility Involuntary commitment program for
sexually violent offenders .
Patients participate in mandated treatment programs required for court-approved release.
Clinical Responsibilities
Round on
17–25 patients per month
Provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and ongoing treatment planning
Work within structured, secure inpatient environments
Collaborate with a large multidisciplinary team
Document and manage patient care using
Meta EMR
Uphold facility safety protocols and participate in required security-focused training
Safety & Training All providers participate in
NEO Orientation Training , which includes:
Personal safety and self-protection strategies
Comprehensive instruction on facility safety procedures
Continuous on-site
security presence
during clinical operations
Support Staff Includes
Counselors
RNs & LPNs
Social Workers
Psychiatric Technicians
Therapeutic Recreation Specialists
Rehabilitation Services
Unit Director
Chaplain
Requirements
Active Missouri (MO) medical license – REQUIRED
Experience with severely mentally ill populations – REQUIRED
Corrections or forensic psychiatry experience strongly preferred
Board Certification NOT required
