We are urgently looking for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for a full-time assignment at San Quentin, CA.

Position: Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Type: Full-Time

Location: San Quentin, CASchedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3pm

Rate: $75/hr-$80/hr

Job Description

Periodically serves clinician-of-the-day, being on-call during scheduled work days for patient emergencies.

Conducts initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case histories, to assess inmate needs and make treatment recommendations.

Conducts clinically sound suicide risk evaluations, including review, risk assessment protocols, data/chart reviews, documentation, and consultations.

Meets with mentally ill inmate patients/youths for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, face-to-face interviews; may require clinical interviews at cell fronts and ability to climb stairs and walk long distances.

Identifies symptoms of psychiatric disorders to comprehensively assess, diagnose, and manage presenting symptoms.

Writes clinical reports on diagnoses and prognoses, developing treatment plans reflecting standard practice.

Consults on complex cases with supervisor, treatment team members, CDCR institutional health care personnel, and other divisions.

Documents all care provided, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings.

Monitors inmate progress using CDCR mental health approved formatting for progress notes.

Applies community standard of practices for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards.

Performs mental status exams in face-to-face clinical interviews.

Examines prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, court records, and other documents to aid diagnosis and treatment.

Conducts mental health education and develops resources for mentally ill and sex offender inmate patients/youths.

Assists inmate patients/youths in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services.

Facilitates transition between various settings within the institution.

Performs pre-release functions, including patient education and transition to county and community mental health programs.

Performs medical social functions as needed, particularly in CTC setting.
