Position Details:
Role: Primary Care Physician (Part-Time)
Location: Corcoran, CA
Schedule: Any 2–3 days a week (3/8's or 2/10's)
Rate: $210‑$215 per hour
Status: 1099 / Independent Contractor
Job Description A. Standards of Obligation
To CDCR/CCHCS in its exercise of its duty to provide and manage medical healthcare services for the patient/youth of the State of California, Temporary/Relief Primary Care Physicians shall provide high quality services, consistent with the terms and conditions under this Agreement and consistent with established and commonly accepted standards and principles of medical practice. Nothing in this Agreement shall supersede the common law rules for the interpretation of established and commonly accepted standards and principles of medical practice.
Temporary/Relief Primary Care Physicians shall adhere to the CDCR/CCHCS medical staff by‑laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and comply with universal infection control precautions.
B. Authorization
1.
Authorization for Treatment
– Temporary/Relief Primary Care Physician shall obtain prior written authorization from the respective CDCR/CCHCS Institution/Facility CEO/CME or designee for non‑emergency and non‑primary care services, in accordance with the Utilization Management Plan. All required forms shall be completed and returned to CDCR. Documentation in the patient/youth medical record is required.
2.
Authorization for Transportation/Transfers
– No patient or youth shall be transferred without prior written authorization from the appropriate CDCR/CCHCS institution CEO/CME or designee.
3.
Experimental and Investigational Drugs and Procedures
– The physician shall not administer such treatments unless permissible under law and approved by the Institution/Facility CEO/CME and CDCR’s Office of Legal Affairs.
4.
Exclusions and Limitations
– No service shall be provided for conditions specifically listed in California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 15, Division 3, Chapter 1, Subchapter 4, Article 8, Section 3350.1. Any exceptions require prior approval from the Institution/Facility CEO/CME or designee.
5.
Clinical Reviews
– At the request of the Institution/Facility, the physician shall conduct clinical reviews to assess quality of clinical care, participate in Professional Practice Committee activities, and prepare written review documents.
6.
Medication Formulary
– The physician shall prescribe only medications on the CDCR formulary unless prior authorization is obtained.
Qualifications and Requirements • Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. • Ability to work on a part‑time schedule (2–3 days a week). • Willingness to be an independent contractor (1099). • Familiarity with correctional health care protocols and CDCR/CCHCS policies.
