HSBC Innovation Banking provides debt solutions to early stage, high growth and public companies in the healthcare, life sciences & technology sector. Our differentiator is a global footprint in 70+ countries as well as a well‑rounded banking platform including investment and corporate banking solutions. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the technology sector and innovation ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain relationships with debt clients and prospects

Lead and own the due diligence process and deal structuring process

Build and maintain a portfolio management framework that ensures timely and concise reviews of financial performance to senior credit approvers

Engage in proactive portfolio management, including maintaining credit quality and profitability targets

Keep up with market, sector and competitive trends while developing product and sector/sub‑sector knowledge

Act as a leader within the team and provide coaching & mentorship for members of the team

Develop a firm understanding of HSBC’s banking products and markets

Qualifications

Proven experience in debt underwriting experience with healthcare, life sciences and technology companies, preferably at a venture debt bank lender or fund

Ability to analyze business models, financial statements, competitive landscapes, and KPI’s

Ability to assess and handle credit risks of existing portfolio including covenant compliance, rating changes, and ongoing financial performance

Constantly curious and has a keen curiosity about tech trends/news as well as a firm understanding of the startup and ecosystem

Willingness to wear multiple hats and collaborate with clients and internal partners

Ability to work alongside legal counsel in negotiating commercial and credit terms

Good negotiation and communication skills

Proficiency in Excel as well as databases such as Pitchbook or Crunchbase
