Responsibilities Work safely and abide by all ACAA safety guidelines; Develop or participate in the job safety analysis procedures; Perform conveyor and Passenger Boarding Bridge maintenance preventive maintenance in accordance with the OEM's recommendations or ACAA preventive maintenance program; Perform unscheduled repairs to conveyor systems, and passenger boarding bridges, including but not limited to: motors, AC and DC ranging from 1/4 HP to 50 HP, motor disconnects both single-phase and three-phase, motor starter control relays, power supplies, both AC and DC, tach generators, servomotors, motor brakes and clutch brakes, actuators, circuit breakers including reset type and fuses, lighting circuits both incandescent and fluorescent, ballast replacement, bulb replacement, conduit replacement both solid and flexible, power transmission wiring, including voltages from 12 V DC to 240 V DC and 5 VAC to 480 VAC, PLC systems and associated I/O cards, racks and communications cards, warning horns, control station on/off buttons, warning lights, AC drives ballasting resistors and keyed on/off switches; Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes; Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints; Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit; Pull wiring through conduit; Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps; Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment; Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels; Connect power cables to electrical equipment, lighting equipment motors, and install grounding leads; Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, amp meter, and megger; Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement; Repair faulty equipment or systems; Perform Jetway Bridge maintenance as required; Perform other related tasks as assigned or required. Qualifications The following requirements list the minimum education/training/experience required to qualify for this job. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. Preferred requirements to apply for role of Airline Services Technician – Electrician are: High School diploma or GED; Five years’ experience as a journeyman electrician; Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the craft or equivalent training at an accredited trade or technical school, or military training; Current, valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain the same; Must provide his/her own personal hand tools. Must provide his/her own personal protective footwear (safety shoes). We also expect that candidates will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in most cases: Considerable knowledge in the practices, methods, tools and materials of the Electrical trade. Knowledge in occupational hazards and techniques of safety precautions and injury prevention programs. Considerable knowledge of VFD’s and PLC’s Considerable ability to interpret and work from blueprints, sketches and drawings. Considerable ability to plan, lay out details of work, and estimate materials and labor costs. Ability to take direction from ACAA management personnel, and/or Airline Services Foreman. Ability to work according to standard practices, using the tools, materials and equipment of the trade. Ability to work well with others. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Ability to accomplish the repair, troubleshooting, technical requirements, etc. of the Passenger Boarding Bridge and its ancillary equipment and conveyors systems and equipment.
