POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Information Technology provides leadership and oversight for all district technology systems, infrastructure, and digital initiatives. This position is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and management of technology to support teaching, learning, and operations across the district. The Director ensures secure, reliable, and efficient technology services while aligning technology goals with district priorities and educational best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including network or systems administration, cybersecurity, or IT management.

Experience supervising or leading technology staff or projects.

Demonstrated knowledge of network infrastructure, hardware and software systems, cybersecurity best practices, and technology support operations.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience working in a K–12 public school or government environment.

Experience with student information systems, learning management systems, and cloud-based education tools (e.g., Google Workspace for Education).

Knowledge of state and federal data privacy and security regulations, including FERPA.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive technology plan that supports district goals, instructional priorities, and operational needs.

Infrastructure Management: Oversee network systems, servers, and telecommunications to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.

Cybersecurity: Establish and monitor security protocols, manage threat prevention systems, and ensure compliance with security standards.

Technology Support: Direct help desk operations and ensure timely, high-quality support to staff, students, and administrators.

Systems Administration: Manage districtwide software applications, including student information, financial, and communication systems.

Budget & Procurement: Develop and manage the technology budget; evaluate and recommend technology purchases, contracts, and services.

Professional Development: Support staff in effectively integrating technology into instructional and administrative practices.

Compliance & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation, licensing, and inventories to ensure compliance with applicable laws and district policies.

Supervision: Lead, evaluate, and mentor technology department staff to ensure efficient operations and responsive service.

Vendor & Project Management: Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and service providers to implement projects and maintain systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Strong knowledge of network administration, cybersecurity, and data management.

Proficiency with cloud-based platforms, device management, and educational software systems.

Ability to manage multiple complex projects with attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

WORKING CONDITIONS Primarily office-based with frequent travel to school sites.

May require extended hours during system maintenance, upgrades, or emergencies.

Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.) of computer equipment or related materials.
