Health RIGHT360 offers residential treatment services designed to serve individuals and families with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our program helps clients address addiction and related issues, increase skills, manage stressors, connect to supportive services, and build a foundation for lasting recovery. Residential programs run 24/7 and include individual and group therapy, family therapy, individualized case management, treatment planning, drug and alcohol counseling, medication support services, and crisis intervention.

Job Summary
HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization and a family of programs, is committed to providing accessible and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to tackle systemic barriers to healthcare and promote health equity for all. We offer a wide range of services, including mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services. Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement in the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we empower individuals to overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating recovery.
The Prototypes Women’s Center in Oxnard offers residential substance abuse treatment and detox services tailored specifically for women, including those who wish to involve their children in their journey to recovery. Our program in Ventura County aims to assist women in maintaining their progress in overcoming co-occurring disorders through a wide range of supportive services. Children can foster a secure attachment with their mothers in a secure setting, while also accessing mental health support and educational assistance. The facility can accommodate up to 56 women and 28 children for treatment.
The Overnight SUD Counselor works closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal treatment outcomes for clients, aligning with HealthRIGHT 360's core values, mission, and vision. This position provides continuous oversight of clients and their children throughout the facility, ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured environment. The counselor will oversee various client activities, including chores, visitation hours, mealtimes, medication lines, detox processes, group sessions, donations, and free time, ensuring that all interactions are conducive to recovery and well-being. This role is crucial for maintaining a 24/7 coverage system, offering crisis intervention and stabilization when necessary. The Overnight SUD Counselor I will also provide compassionate support, guiding clients through moments of distress and ensuring they receive the proper care in alignment with individualized treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Service
Maintain a high degree of self-awareness and stay calm under pressure.
Assist clients with intake, assessment, and orientation to program upon admission.
Assist with checking clients in and ensuring unsafe items are not brought into the facility.
Utilize trauma-informed care while applying crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and supervision of the clients.
Complete withdrawal management rounds and behavioral support rounds at 30-minute intervals as assigned.
Provide facility coverage by supervising the clients during chores, visiting hours, mealtimes, medication line, detox, donations, groups, and free time.
Provide educational and group facilitation as required within the scope of credential.
Seek clinical consultation when encountering new and/or high-risk clinical circumstances.
Monitor visiting hours and address safety concerns.
Work collaboratively with other members of the treatment team and communicate any behavioral concerns to the client’s Case Manager, Therapist, Medical, Psychiatrist, and others.
Maintain frequent communication with the treatment team and engage in regular consultations.
Conduct random and planned room searches.
Aid in storing and accounting for client’s belongings at time of admission. For clients that leave for unplanned reasons, assist in packing up their belongings and storing per policy and procedure.
Complete random and planned urinalysis test.
Transport clients as needed.
Nighttime Duties
Remain alert and awake during the entire overnight shift.
Perform facility and room checks.
Provide nightly accounting of work completion.
Ensure that common areas are cleaned nightly.
Clinical Documentation
Write and complete all progress notes within 72 hours of service delivery.
Maintain compliance with the due dates for all clinical documentation.
Complete all documentation in accordance with the agency’s policy and procedures to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
Complete same day incident reports.
Document behavioral support rounds every 30 minutes as assigned.
Document urinalysis test results.
Administration and Other Duties
Maintain full compliance with registration requirements.
Attend and actively participate in assigned Clinical Supervision.
Actively participate in agency and team meetings.
Complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
Read and respond to email when appropriate.
Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
Education, Certification, or Licensure
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or other related field preferred.
Registration as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor from an accredited California agency (CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP).
Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Valid California Driver’s License.
Experience
Preferably a minimum of two years’ experience in the human service field and demonstrated expertise in substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery.
Experience working with clients experiencing acute withdrawal from substances.
Must complete background check and livescan clearance.
