Job Summary Nature of Work: Full‑time faculty in the Business Department with primary teaching emphasis in accounting. Such courses include Accounting Principles, Personal Income Tax, Corporate/Fiduciary Tax, Cost Management Accounting, Accounting Information Systems and related areas, as assigned by the Dean. The faculty member participates in the department and the institution’s communities of learners to foster a culture of inquiry, critical self‑reflection, evidence‑based decision‑making, and a learner‑centered environment. General Summary: Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College. Essential Duties Contribute to students’ academic growth and development, which includes: Teaching: Be knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and competent in the subject. Maintain a conducive learning environment and respect each student. Organize course content, objectives, and evaluation methods. Deliver clear presentations and employ diverse teaching methods. Engage students in lectures, discussions, labs, and online activities. Integrate new methodologies and technology into instruction. Maintain office hours and provide timely assessment of progress. Ensure fairness in examinations and grading. Participate in program assessment, catalog revisions, and new course development. Keep current with curriculum updates and educational standards. Advising: Know college policies and program requirements. Help students plan programs of study. Provide academic and career counseling. Assist in enrollment management and student recruitment. Maintain timely communication with advisees. Provide leadership and supervision for student organizations. Example of Work Performed (cont.) Professional Achievement: Participate in academic organizations related to teaching. Give scholarly and/or creative presentations, workshops, or performances. Produce scholarly or creative materials such as research, manuscripts, articles, book reviews, or works of art. Engage in professional development to enhance faculty performance. Seek external funding through grants and contracts as appropriate. Provide evidence of achievement within the field. Demonstrate quality and originality of thought or work. Commit to continued professional productivity. Professional Services outside teaching: Participate in campus and community presentations. Serve on discipline, department, and campus‑wide committees and initiatives. Take an active role in accreditation activities. Periodically evaluate and develop new courses consistent with institutional mission. Sponsor student organizations and participate in student‑based activities. Provide leadership in professional organizations and community citizenship. Foster collegial relations with campus and the community. Secondary Duties Other duties as assigned by the Dean. Terminal Degree required for tenure. Ability to teach online courses. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited institution.
