Summary The Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all activities of a project to ensure costs, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. The Project Manager oversees the organization, scheduling and completion of flooring projects following company standards and best practices. The Project Manager has responsibility for monitoring, influencing, and achieving positive financial results on each project. They are also responsible for ensuring their team has provided field managers and subcontractors all the tools and resources needed to ensure projects are completed correctly, on time, on budget and follow quality standards.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and training to Assistant Project Managers.
Collaborate with field managers aligned to their jobs, set clear expectations, and ensure they have the information necessary in ProCore to manage the job effectively.
Communicate with project teams to plan, organize and direct all activities related to assigned flooring contracts (review drawings, scope of work, estimates and specs).
Identify lead times and critical items.
Develop a cost‑effective plan and schedule for completion of the project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
Ensure creation of a full labor SOV and work with SR Project Manager, Director of Projects and Field Operations on labor targets prior to negotiating with subcontractors.
Hold effective “kick‑off” meetings with the internal team to discuss job details with documentation per SOP after mock‑up stage.
Coordinate pre‑construction meetings 2‑3 weeks prior to the job, including field Operations.
Manage day‑to‑day operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects.
Accurately forecast revenue, profitability and project costs to achieve goals set for projects.
Proactively identify changes in project scope and/or revenue and ensure appropriate measures are taken, including managing pricing of changes to GC.
Track and control project schedule and associated costs to achieve completion within time and money allocated.
Review project status with the team regularly and update SR PM on status of all jobs in full production; work with operations to resolve issues.
Be responsible for overall material management of the job.
Plan, implement, track and close out projects including any final negotiations with GC, and conduct project close‑out meetings.
Requirements Work environment:
This position is on‑site in Timonium, MD, with travel to client sites in the VA, DC, MD region. Workdays are Monday through Friday.
Physical Demands:
Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. Occasionally move product boxes up to 20 pounds.
Travel Required:
50% travel required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business.
3–5 years’ commercial construction experience.
Strong networking and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Successful previous experience as a project manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
Strong business sense and industry expertise.
Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Construction: 3–5 years (Required).
Project Management: 3–5 years (Required).
Commercial Flooring: 1–3 years.
