The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine/Stanford Medicine Children’s Health is recruiting a

Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist

in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford (LPCHS). The successful candidate will be a Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator line. The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in clinical care, teaching, administration, or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need. Quality/Performance improvement leadership opportunities may be available for qualified candidates.

Academic Rank Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Ideal Candidate

Board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, or Pediatric Anesthesia.

Completed advanced training in pediatric cardiovascular intensive care, either via dual fellowships in Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or a senior fellowship in cardiovascular intensive care.

Experience as an attending cardiac intensivist in a CVICU setting.

Skill in providing cardiac consultation in Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units at LPCHS.

Strong commitment to teaching, house staff and fellowship education.

Interest in clinical, translational, or quality/performance improvement research.

Excellent research collaboration potential with investigators at the School of Medicine and other Stanford departments.

Responsibilities

Serve as one of 21 attending cardiac intensivists in the CVICU.

Provide cardiac consultation in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units at LPCHS.

Mentor junior faculty and clinicians; support mentorship programs, including junior women in cardiology focus group.

Teach undergraduate, graduate, and post‑doctoral trainees in all aspects of pediatric cardiovascular intensive care.

Lead or participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.

Engage in clinical research, translational collaborations, and basic science studies as appropriate.

Utilize mechanical circulatory support technologies (Berlin Heart, HeartMate III, Impella) and ECMO for patient management.

Support the busy cardiac transplantation program (approximately 25+ pediatric heart transplants per year).

Pay Range

Clinical Assistant Professor: $310,000 – $342,000

Clinical Associate Professor: $368,000 – $399,000

Clinical Professor: $442,000 – $487,000
