Director of Business Development/ Origination
Overview Our client is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead origination efforts across a national pipeline of renewable and low‑carbon energy projects. This role focuses on building strategic relationships, structuring off‑take solutions, and introducing new power generation assets to the market.
Responsibilities
Originate, negotiate, and execute PPAs, tolling agreements, and capacity contracts.
Build and manage relationships with utilities, data centers, power marketers, and corporate buyers.
Lead customer outreach strategy and development of market‑facing materials.
Evaluate opportunities across major U.S. ISOs/RTOs.
Partner with development, finance, and engineering teams to align commercial strategy with project milestones.
Identify and respond to RFP opportunities.
Support diligence and contract negotiations for new‑build and acquisition projects.
Provide market intel and customer feedback to support long‑term pipeline expansion.
Qualifications
10+ years in power origination, energy trading, power M&A/investment banking, or contract structuring.
Strong understanding of U.S. power markets, ISO/RTO structures, interconnection, and regulatory frameworks.
Financial modeling capability and comfort assessing value of offtake agreements.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
$225k + attractive bonus.
