We're seeking a Procurement Operations Business Partner to support Anthropic's compute infrastructure. This role will be instrumental in managing procurement operations for our growing AI compute capacity. You'll work with our Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering teams to ensure efficient procurement workflows while maintaining financial discipline during this unprecedented scaling phase. This position sits at the intersection of cutting‑edge AI infrastructure and strategic financial operations. You'll manage complex multi‑party relationships and help establish procurement frameworks as we scale our compute capabilities to support our AI research and product roadmap. This person will be managing some of Anthropic's largest capital decisions and most complex vendor relationships during a critical scaling phase.
Responsibilities
Review and validate Purchase Requests in Zip for appropriate documentation, contract alignment, and accurate accounting treatment
Manage Purchase Orders including reviews, updates, and closure when fully billed or no longer expected, maintaining organized tracking systems across high volumes of POs to ensure accurate project mapping and monitoring throughout the PO lifecycle
Provide invoice coding guidance to AP team for non‑PO invoices and complex transactions
Conduct vendor analysis to identify cost savings opportunities and support business negotiations with data‑driven insights
Conduct financial analysis, including explaining budget vs. actual and flux variance drivers, and identifying early indicators of over/under pacing against budget targets
Lead process improvement initiatives to standardize workflows and drive automation across departments
Support month‑end close activities including expense reviews, accruals, and reclass journal entries
Train and onboard business owners and vendors on procurement processes and best practices
Develop vendor relationships to drive strategic value and optimize performance across the organization
You May Be a Good Fit If You Have
10+ years of experience in procurement, with 2+ years in datacenter infrastructure operations
Understanding of compute infrastructure components (servers, GPUs/TPUs, networking, storage)
Experience managing high‑value, complex procurement relationships
Strong understanding of 2‑way and 3‑way match procure‑to‑pay processes and purchase order management
Experience with procurement systems (Zip, Coupa, or similar)
Capital‑intensive procurement experience with datacenter buildouts, power infrastructure, and understanding components of long‑lead‑time equipment procurement
Supply chain risk management for semiconductor/GPU shortages and vendor concentration risks
Proven track record of process improvement and workflow optimization
Analytical skills for vendor analysis, cost savings identification, and budget tracking
Cross‑functional collaboration experience working with diverse business stakeholders
Business partnership mindset with ability to translate complex processes for non‑finance users
Growth company experience comfortable with ambiguity and rapid scaling environments
Strong Candidates May Have
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
Experience with AI/ML infrastructure procurement (GPUs, TPUs, high‑performance computing)
Knowledge of datacenter operations including power, cooling, and space planning
Familiarity with cloud procurement models and enterprise agreements
Background working with hyperscale cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
Awareness of supply chain challenges in semiconductor industry
Understanding of datacenter security and compliance standards
Background in vendor management and strategic relationship development
Familiarity with SOX compliance and financial control frameworks
Annual Salary $230,000—$300,000 USD
Logistics Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
