Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Research Administration Manager
independently manages staff and daily operations related to research administration and general administrative support for a work unit.
This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

Responsibilities SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES Works independently in developing operational goals, determining courses of action to accomplish goals and in managing staff. Collaborates with PIs and interfaces with other departments as needed on administrative and strategic planning. Advises PIs on relevant matters, develops effective solutions to administrative issues and provides input to broader division planning as needed.
JOB DUTIES
Develop short and long term goals, procure necessary resources and determine courses of action to accomplish goals for the research administration function
Supervise administrative staff to include hiring, performance evaluation, professional development, handling disciplinary action, layoff and termination issues.
Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures
Oversee grant application activities and award funding compliance, resolving all escalated issues to ensure successful submissions
Manage financial forecasting and budgets for the work unit, including development of related tools, requesting and tracking non-sponsored funding, managing all sub awards/contracts and related agreements, approving departmental purchases and consulting with faculty on funding opportunities
Oversee submissions to IRO and other committees; resolve all escalated issues
Identify general administrative needs and oversee the delivery of related services for the work unit
Lead and participate in various administrative committees representing the division
Participate in divisional or institutional improvement projects and problem resolution related to research administration
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, public administration or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in research administration including federal grant and contraction administration experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree.
Strong supervisory, budgetary, and communication skills.
Ability to manage complex activities in a research setting and to work effectively with a variety of people.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $99,486 to $157,227, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
