The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for and interest in vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the forensic industry from the ground up, with potential to grow into a project lead with the right experience, education, certifications, and licensures. This role is suited for someone who prefers fieldwork over desk work. The position requires heavy travel via personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed) and occasionally unpredictable hours. We are committed to staff training and development.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Conduct field investigations of crash sites and vehicles involved in incidents involving various vehicle types and mechanical equipment
Perform laser scans using drone and FARO scanner(s)
Assist in vehicular accident reconstruction and mechanical failure analysis
Perform calculations, analysis, and computer simulations
Review and draft technical reports
Communicate technical findings clearly in both verbal and written forms
Participate in educational workshops, review publications, and engage in professional networks and societies
Maintain consistent physical presence at work
Accept and incorporate constructive feedback
Position Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering
Experience or certifications in vehicle maintenance and repair are a plus
Strong vehicular knowledge and interest are required
Minimum of two years post-academic accident reconstruction or automotive-related experience
Recent engineering graduates will be considered
Strong time management skills
Background in NHTSA, Forensic, Racing, or Vehicle Safety is a plus
Experience with FARO technology is a plus
Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, AutoCAD, FARO, and crash simulation software
Excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills
Public speaking experience is a plus
Effective communication with clients and colleagues
Strong written and oral communication skills
Willingness to learn the industry and obtain necessary certifications
Physical Requirements:
Travel approximately 70% via vehicle within local/regionally
Ability to travel and drive in all conditions
Ability to maneuver around accident sites
Lift up to 70 lbs
Carry equipment to/from sites
Visually inspect sites and artifacts
Wear PPE as required
