As a

Maintenance Technician II

on our Grounds,

Trails & Streams Crew , you'll help create welcoming, well-maintained, and ecologically resilient spaces across DuPage County's 60+ forest preserves. Whether you're resurfacing a trail, removing blockages from rivers, performing upkeep on trail access through the county, or maintaining native landscapes, your work directly supports public access, wildlife conservation, and natural beauty. What You'll Do As a member of the Trails & Streams Crew, you will: Operate machinery such as tractors, mowers, backhoes, chainsaws, and more for trail building, site maintenance, and resource management. Construct, restore, and maintain natural-surface trails, boardwalks, and site amenities like benches and split firewood for campsites. Clear stream and river blockages to maintain water flow and reduce flooding hazards. Grade land, install culverts and drainage systems, and perform turf restoration work with seeding and mulch. Apply herbicide and assist with invasive species removal to support native habitat health. Assist with prescribed burns, snow plowing, river clearing, and deer management programs as needed. Work closely with other maintenance and natural resources crews on a rotating or project-specific basis. What You'll Need High School Diploma/GED required, 1 - 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Driver's License in good standing. Illinois Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker and airbrakes endorsement within 6 months of employment in good standing. Illinois Department of Agriculture Pesticide Operator's License within six (6) months of employment in good standing. National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) I-100, S-130, S-190, S-290 within two (2) years of employment. First Aid CPR AED certification within six (6) months of employment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Schedule, Pay, & Benefits Monday-Friday | 6:45 am - 2:45 pm. Starting at $26.19 - 29.48 /hour.
