Job Description And Duties Under the general supervision of the Captain, AI, the Correctional Lieutenant directs the daily operations of a specific area and/or program of the institution. This area includes the supervision of Correctional Sergeants, Correctional Officers, ancillary staff and inmates. The Correctional Lieutenant is responsible for both the custody phase and the general operation of the programs under policy established by the Warden and the Department.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
