A research opportunity is available in the Bio-Materials Synthesis and Assembly Branch at the DEVCOM Army Research Lab (ARL) in Adelphi, MD. This position requires various skillsets related to the preparation and characterization of biologically-derived materials for multifunctional applications. Work will include the support of synthetic biology and chemical synthesis workflows, purification and characterization of biological materials, integration with matrices utilizing material processing techniques, preparation of samples for testing, and communication of results through presentations and internal publications. The applicant should possess an aptitude and experience for working both independently and in collaboration with other team members, as the applicant will need to communicate with scientists from multiple disciplines. Desired Skills and Qualifications: B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, and related disciplines. Previous lab research experience preferred. Able to follow complex, scientific instructions and able to learn new things quickly. Must be self-motivated with good interpersonal skills to achieve results within an interdisciplinary project team.
