Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Optimize high performance and robust motion control designs, and develop real-time servo firmware for enterprise-class hard disk drives. Architect robust servo systems, compensating for environmental variables such as vibration, shock, supply voltage, and temperature. Research, design, develop, and maintain tools related to characterization and qualifying servo designs. Provide failure analysis support for integration teams, manufacturing, and reliability testing. Collaborate with other teams to improve robustness, minimize failures, and optimize performance across conditions. Evaluate advanced technologies and their interaction with servo subsystems through simulation and prototyping. Qualifications REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED MS/PhD in EE or ME 5+ years of servo-controller design experience for mechanical dynamic systems, including tradeoffs for feedback and feedforward solutions. 5+ years of experience in MATLAB Experience coding in C/C++ Skills Good organizational skills Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills Excellent global communication skills Additional Information Western Digital is committed to equal opportunity and diversity.
