Chief Financial Office r reports directly to the CEO, while serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the CFO provides overall financial support for the organization with responsibilities for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial activities of the organization. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, budgeting/forecasting, agency audits, legal, regulatory reporting and compliance, internal controls, payroll and benefit management, treasury management and overall risk. The CFO provides leadership in the development of short and long-term strategic plans. This position is a member of the executive leadership team and manages Finance and Investment board committees. Salary Range : $160,000 – $180,000 Formal Supervisory Responsibility Supervises Accounting, Finance, and IT departments. Key Responsibilities LEADERSHIP Provides leadership in the development of short- and long-term strategic plans. Leads and manages the coordination of all fiscal reporting external and internal. COMPLIANCE Ensures that effective internal controls are in place to maintain compliance with General Acceptance Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal grant regulations, loan covenants, agency governance standards, and other fiscal accreditations requirements. Manages all real estate transactions, tax issues, and decontrol of apartment building. BUDGETING AND FORECASTING Works with organization’s departments to create annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Provides performance analysis to departments, Executive staff, board committees, and Board of Directors to assist in the management and strategic goals of the organization. REPORTING Leads and manages all external audits, internal fiscal self assessments, tax filing, other regulatory reporting. Provides financial information to departments, finance committee and Board of Directors. Manages financial information and reporting of apartment building provided by external management company. MANAGEMENT Develops and maintains staff with adequate training in GAAP standards, Federal Uniform Guidance,specific grant standards (i.e. Head Start, HUD) and agency’s internal control policies and procedures. Manages restricted assets and complies with donor instructions. RELATIONSHIPS Maintain banking, auditing, tax, and legal relationships. Works closely with Board of Directors, Investment, Finance, Strategic committees of the board and Metro and Head Start program directors. Works in partnership with Human Resources and Development to manage employee compensation, agency’s benefit program, and the required monitoring and recording of contributions and event revenue. OTHER Coordinates insurance and overall risk management, oversee property management, and other duties as assigned. Formal Education BS in Accounting. CPA, Master’s Degree in Accounting, or Public accounting experience preferred. Required Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, organizational and management experience required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal. Must be capable of thinking strategically and able to work with diverse internal and external customers. 7 plus years of executive experience. Experience with federal grants, fund accounting, and IT preferred.
