This senior role involves close collaboration with AP’s politics news editor and Washington bureau leaders, shaping journalism that highlights AP’s role in American democracy. The position is based in Washington, D.C., but exceptional candidates elsewhere will be considered. Responsibilities: Report to the vice president and head of Elections Services. Supervise a team of elections explanatory reporters, elections interactives, and graphics staff. Oversee journalism related to AP’s vote count and election analytics, including race calls and election reporting from pre-election to post-election. Collaborate with the politics editor and peer editors in Washington. Work with the elections interactives and graphics team to enhance storytelling with data visualizations. Organize and direct coverage across media formats, coordinating with partner editors and serving global digital audiences.
