POSITION GOAL:

The Engineer Associate I will perform basic engineering duties associated with the construction, structural, water resources or civil engineering projects for DB Sterlin. This individual will support all aspects of design projects for roadways, utilities, sewers, and bridges, prepare schematics and models, and perform analysis and engineering calculations. Additionally, this role will support the development of plans, specifications, and estimates, as well as the preparation of technical engineering reports and the performance of construction management for various projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Possesses foundational engineering concepts.

Acquires basic knowledge and develops basic skills through mentored experience.

Evaluates and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.

Performs work assignments of minimal complexity. Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes.

Receives instruction on specific objectives and direction on possible solutions to unconventional or complex problems.

Works as part of a team.

Typically receives close supervision on most aspects of assignments and a general review of all aspects of work.

Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.

Interacts primarily with internal project team members. May engage in some external team member, client, or stakeholder interactions.

Adheres to project deadlines and scope and keeps the task manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.

Performs review of your own work before submitting to the next review level.

Qualifications Position Requirement:

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering.

Licensure:

Engineer-in-Training Certificate (Preferred).

Report to:

Project Engineer – Team Lead

Experience:

Typically 0 to 3 years.

Communication Skills:

Basic verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Skills:

Spatial and design skills to visualize projects in 2D and 3D. Entry-level engineering skills to compliment position goal. Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Bluebeam, and CADD software, specifically the Bentley Suite of products including Open Roads Designer, ProjectWise and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D. Basic knowledge of local agency standards preferred.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, climb, or balance, talk, or hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects tools or control. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.

Working Environment:

This job may require long periods of standing or walking in the field and include exposure to all types of outside weather conditions, varying noise levels, and hazards associated with construction. Wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment is required while performing work in the field. The employee may also be exposed to a general office environment, requiring long periods of sitting at a computer in ambient inside temperature, lighting and noise level. Due to the collaborative nature of this position, the work will need to be performed in the field or office, typically during normal business hours. Travel is required; must possess a valid license.

Continuing Education:

Complete state-required competency. Attend job-related seminars and workshops.

Salary Range:

$70,720 - $81,120
