The Janitor at Laura’s Barn Preschool & Child Care Center is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for children, staff, and families. This role ensures that classrooms, restrooms, kitchens, and play areas meet health and safety standards in accordance with California Title 22 Child Care Licensing Regulations . The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized environment for young children to learn and play. Hilby Avenue, Seaside Job Hours 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. Wage $21 - $23 per hour Benefits Benefits available after completion of 90 day probation. Medical/Dental/Vision/401K & Paid Federal Holidays/Sick Pay 48 hour accumulated annually. Qualifications & Requirements ✔ High School Diploma or GED (preferred) ✔ Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or facility maintenance work (preferred) ✔ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs , bend, and perform physical cleaning tasks ✔ Must pass Live Scan background check, TB test, and required immunizations ✔ Completion of Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training (or willingness to complete) Key Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms, restrooms, kitchen areas, and common spaces. Sanitize toys, play equipment, and high-touch surfaces to maintain a germ-free environment. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust regularly to keep all areas tidy. Remove trash and recycling throughout the day. ✅ Facility Maintenance Ensure restrooms are stocked with soap, paper towels, and other essentials. Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance needs to the center director. Assist with minor repairs , such as replacing light bulbs, or unclogging sinks. ✅ Outdoor & Playground Upkeep Keep outdoor play areas clean and free of debris . Check playground equipment daily for safety and cleanliness . ✅ Collaboration & Compliance Work with teachers and staff to maintain a safe and welcoming environment . Follow OSHA safety guidelines and child care sanitation standards . Ensure compliance with health and licensing regulations for child care centers.
