Job Description The Head Coach (HC) is an integral member of the West Coast Fitness organization and an extension of the Studio Leadership Team. The HC oversees coaches within their designated home studio, focusing on cultivating culture, community, and development. Responsibilities include maintaining a high‑energy, respectful OTF studio environment; managing class schedules, coach staffing, and onboarding; assessing coaching performance and implementing roster changes; and supporting studio compliance and payroll. The role is hourly with monthly bonus opportunities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Coach Orangetheory classes, minimum of 14 classes per week

Use discretionary judgment to ensure OTF brand standards are followed and communicated with the Regional Fitness Manager

Create and promote a fun, safe, and collaborative working environment for all staff

Work with the Regional Team and Director to optimize class schedule offerings

Coordinate schedule updates and fitness staffing with the Management Team

Submit a weekly schedule outlining work hours and activities for studio goal execution

Participate in weekly meetings with the studio management team

Conduct quarterly reviews of fitness coaches and provide mentoring for improvement each week

Maintain, update, and submit the Coach Roadmap Tracker per deadlines

Assist with studio compliance audits and audit entire studio operations as needed

Track and submit payroll for the coaching team

Attend and help plan at least one community event per month per studio, ensuring Fitness presence

Attend quarterly Regional Fitness Workshops

Uphold studio cleanliness and culture standards

Engage and monitor internal company communication via Slack

Qualifications

Education:

Successful completion of the OTFit Certification; preferred minimum 6+ months experience as a leader in the fitness industry; minimum of 1 year as an OTF Fitness Coach; current certification from an approved provider (ACE, NASM, AFAA, NSCA, ACSM); current AED/CPR certificate; 10+ hours per year in continuing education units outside of OTF curriculum; Bachelor’s degree in an exercise science related field is a plus.

Knowledge & Experience:

Concrete understanding of WCF culture, mission, vision, and values; knowledge of performance review metrics and guidelines; advanced understanding of anatomy and training biomechanics; working knowledge of MindBody Online; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Soft Skills:

Excellent organizational and leadership abilities; stellar problem‑solving abilities; exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities; tremendous focus on customer service.

Fitness Coaches are leaders of the Orangetheory workouts, requiring them to be on their feet leading and instructing members for the entirety of the workout. In the weight room, coaches must demonstrate all exercises for members, which can involve Bosu trainers, medicine balls, dumbbells, TRX, mini bands, or other fitness equipment.
