Bakery Associate Job Summary Job Purpose
Assists in the daily operations of the bakery department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by embracing the backgrounds and experiences of the team.
Essential Responsibilities Percent Of Responsibilities SERVICE:
60% - Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated that will increase customer confidence and loyalty. Delivers daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for at shelf product availability, freshness, quality and value. Offers product samples, answers product questions and offers customers assistance in finding or suggesting products. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled.
LEADERSHIP:
20% - Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job specific information. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
FINANCIAL:
10% - Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports any discrepancies. Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Prepares, packages, labels, and displays products for sale. Utilizes production planning tools to produce fresh products and ensures discarding or markdown processes are followed. Enforces proper temperature and documentation of temperature logs.
COMPLIANCE/SAFETY:
10% - Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity. Adheres to regulatory compliance. Executes product recalls and withdrawals, reinforces safety programs, and reports unsafe conditions. Notifies management of accidents, reports risks, and ensures wage and hour compliance. Cultivates safety culture, provides training, and maintains PPE and equipment.

Qualifications Required Education N/A
Preferred Education High School / GED
Language Requirements Required: English | Preferred: Spanish
Relevant Experience Supervisory: 0-3 years minimum
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Must be 18 years of age
Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
Strong customer service skills.
Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
Operate bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
Environmental Factors Retail - Bakery: Physical Demands: regular standing/walking, manual dexterity, repetitive motions, reaching, lifting up to 250 lbs. Working conditions: indoor/outdoor, varying temperatures. Safety risk factors include slips, sharp objects, noise, chemicals.
Overall Required Equipment: cleaning supplies, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, racks, carts, pallet jacks, etc. PPE includes goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, fryer gloves, oven gloves. Back brace presented for lifting 250 lbs. Lifting requirement: 35 lbs.
Travel Percent & Overnight Occasional no overnight
