Description/Job Summary

BCCC invites qualified candidates to apply for our part-time faculty position to teach American Sign Language courses. Part-time appointments are made on a semester-by-semester (as needed) basis
Responsibilities/Duties
  • Teach assigned courses, which may include day, night, or weekend courses.
  • Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes student learning.
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Attend meetings, training, and orientations as required.
  • Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise.
  • Fulfill responsibilities for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Education:
  • Master's Degree in ASL or related field
Experience: ?
  • A minimum of two(2) years of ASL full-time professional experience or equivalent
  • Strong foundation of ASL and ASL pedagogy
  • Extensive knowledge of Deaf culture
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASLTA certification (American Sign Language Teachers Association) or ASLPI score of
4.0 or higher (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview)
  • Three (3) years ASL teaching experience
