Quartermaster
Job Description:
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to lead integration and validation across the Smartmast platform—a ruggedized edge-compute sensor system deployed in remote maritime environments. You will serve as the connective tissue between mechanical, electrical, and software domains, ensuring subsystems function together as a cohesive and reliable unit. This includes defining interfaces, managing system-level requirements, overseeing integration test plans, and validating environmental and operational readiness. The ideal candidate brings a blend of systems thinking, technical breadth, and hands-on execution across lab and field environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Define, document, and manage system-level requirements, performance targets, and integration interfaces across hardware and software domains
Develop integration and test plans to validate full system behavior, including sensor coordination, power-up sequences, thermal behavior, and fault recovery
Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems to ensure robust operation across a wide range of field conditions
Oversee system-level design reviews, integration milestones, and pre-deployment checks to ensure readiness for lab and field testing
Support environmental and functional testing including shock, vibration, ingress protection (IP), and thermal cycling
Investigate root causes of field issues through structured debugging, test replication, and collaboration with domain experts
Maintain system architecture documentation, test protocols, and integration logs to support traceability and reproducibility
Work closely with the reliability/test team to design experiments and verify durability across long-duration deployments
Contribute to tools and fixtures for system-level diagnostics, calibration, and on-site servicing
Qualifications (Preferred):
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field
6+ years of experience in a systems integration or cross-functional hardware role
Familiarity with the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition through testing and production support
Experience working with electromechanical systems, embedded computing, and sensor integration
Strong analytical and debugging skills, including comfort interpreting logs, schematics, and data streams
Excellent communication skills and ability to manage collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams
Bonus: experience with ruggedized electronics, field-deployed platforms, or maritime/aerospace systems
Work Environment:
This is a remote position with collaboration via online tools.
Flexible working hours with occasional deadlines requiring high availability.
Opportunity to work on innovative projects with a global impact.
Benefits :
Competitive salary
Flexible work hours and the option for remote work.
Opportunities for professional development and continued education.
