Job Summary The Chief Development Officer (CDO) serves as a key member of the Executive Management Team (EMT), and is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through comprehensive strategies that strengthen revenue generation, donor relations, and public engagement. This leader will oversee management of the development team and all aspects of fundraising, donor engagement, donor pipeline growth, and revenue diversification—ensuring financial stability and mission impact across programs and initiatives.
Reporting Reporting directly to the President, the ideal candidate will have experience working closely with organizational leaders and the Board to set and execute multi-year revenue strategies across Brady’s 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and Brady PAC. The candidate should have a track record of working collaboratively across an organization and with their own team to uncover potential revenue opportunities and connect donors with the aspects of Brady’s work that are most meaningful to them, with a focus on building long-term, meaningful relationships with Brady’s donor base. The candidate will have a passion for creating a culture of care and cultivation for Brady donors, many of whom have been Brady supporters for decades.
The candidate should be creative and bold, willing to think expansively about how to grow Brady’s revenue and who Brady should work with to support that growth. They should have substantial experience cultivating strategic partnerships with High Net Worth individuals, Corporations, and large Foundations, as well as experience successfully managing a team of high performers.
Key Responsibilities Mission & Strategy Alignment
Deeply understand and embody the organization’s mission, values, and the communities it serves.
Partner with the President and Board to develop long-term strategies for revenue, visibility, and impact.
Translate the mission into compelling and innovative fundraising and engagement strategies that drive revenue growth and sustainability.
Deep experience working with
501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and Brady PAC
entities, navigating compliance and strategic alignment.
Revenue Growth & Fundraising
Lead all aspects of development strategy—including individual giving, major gifts, institutional partnerships, corporate giving, planned giving, and digital fundraising.
Identify new sources of revenue, leveraging innovation and data-driven insights.
Partner with the Board and senior leaders to align fundraising goals with programmatic and financial objectives as delineated in the strategic plan
Establish clear performance metrics, revenue forecasts, and multi-year growth targets.
Partner with the COO and Finance to ensure seamless tracking and forecasting of revenue performance, ensuring transparency and accountability, and helping guide resource allocation that reflects Brady’s strategic priorities while supporting the strongest revenue pathways.
Stakeholder & Donor Engagement
Build and steward relationships with high-net-worth donors, foundations, corporations, and strategic partners.
Serve as a compelling external ambassador, strengthening Brady’s national presence and philanthropic brand.
Develop strategic communications that connect supporters and partners to the mission in meaningful ways.
Organizational Leadership & Culture
Build trust and collaboration within the senior leadership team.
Champion a culture of accountability, high performance, and alignment with organizational values (Accountability, Passion, Impact Driven, and Excellence — APIE).
Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of engagement and fundraising.
Communicate openly and strategically with staff and stakeholders to identify and pursue existing and emergent fundraising opportunities.

Identify and respond to external drivers of change—economic shifts, donor behavior trends, technology, and policy developments.
Guide the organization in adapting to the evolving philanthropic landscape, including digital giving, AI-informed engagement, and multi-generational donor strategies.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure integration between programmatic work and revenue development. Communicate these opportunities to fundraisers on staff.
Operational Management
Oversee development operations, budgets, metrics, targets, compliance, and donor systems across all entities (c3, c4, PAC).
Manage budgets, forecasting, and key performance indicators for fundraising and engagement.
Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and financial standards across all revenue operations.
Key Relationships
Reports to: The President
Works closely with: the Office of the President, including the Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff; Board of Directors; Finance; Chief Policy/Program Officer; and Communications.
Supervises: Development staff. Manages key reports.

10+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, and revenue strategy.
