Senior Staff Nurse – Women's Surgical Unit – Gynae Inpatients London: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children Full time Permanent contract: 37.5 per week (long days/nights/weekends rotational shifts). Salary: Competitive Depending on Experience plus 9% shift allowance. We are recruiting for a Gynae Senior Staff Nurse to join the Inpatients team at The Portland Hospital, currently rated “Good” by the CQC. As a Senior Staff Nurse in the Gynaecology Inpatient ward you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate highest standards of nursing for all patients between High Dependency and Surgical Ward working within a team, supervising and directing junior staff enabling the provision of a high quality woman centred surgical service. Deputising for the sisters in their absence.

To be willing to provide care to women undergoing surgical or medical termination of pregnancy, including direct involvement with induction of the procedure.

Responsibilities

To be visionary and dynamic in driving the team forward in a rapid changing environment.

To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.

To assist in developing and promoting protocols for the care and management of women undergoing surgery, including care within a High Dependency setting.

To provide clinical leadership for nursing and support staff.

Take daily responsibility to ensure that the clinical area works within management controls and provides consistently high quality care within given budgets and resources.

To assist the Ward Sisters to support the implementation of new initiatives within the Women’s Health Service and to represent the service in their absence.

What You Will Bring

Registered Nurse Level 1

NMC Registration and PREP requirements

Extensive experience essential within a UK Hospital setting

Experience within a Surgical/Gynae environment essential

Experience relevant to specialist area essential

Knowledge of relevant NMC/national guidelines, policies and procedures (Code of conduct)

Basic life support
