POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of Clinical Quality Analytics will have primary responsibility for all data and analytics efforts to support BMCHS's objectives in improving hospital quality and patient safety across 3 hospitals. This individual will work closely with Quality, BMCHS Leadership centrally and at 3 member hospitals, BMC clinical departments and front-line staff, and other stakeholders to define clinical information needs and deliver clear and actionable reports and analytics to support these efforts. The Sr. Director will be BMCHS's subject matter expert in internal clinical data and external quality data and analytics resources.
Position: Senior Director of Clinical Quality Analytics Department: BMC Quality Analytics Schedule: Full Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: We are looking for a Director of Clinical Quality Analytics to join our System Analytics team. This individual will lead BMC's activities in hospital quality and patient safety improvement analytics and serve the clinical information needs of physicians and department leads.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Quality department to develop strategies and initiatives to improve optimal performance in core quality measures across CMS programs, MassHealth (Medicaid) programs, and commercial programs
Partner with hospital operations leadership to develop strategies to improve performance in length of stay, readmissions, and ambulatory performance across all departments
Create ongoing reports and high‑impact dashboards and visuals that effectively communicate performance to operational and clinical leaders and other stakeholders (e.g., Tableau dashboards)
Understand and address the information needs of executive and front‑line governance, leadership and staff in order to support continuous improvement of patient care processes and outcomes throughout BMCHS.
Develop models to prioritize where to focus efforts and resources by measures and patient segments
Work with Quality and other BMCHS clinical departments/stakeholders to track all analytics and data requests and maintain a governance/prioritization process for all requests
Develop models to understand the drivers of quality performance on key accreditation measures (e.g., CMS STARS) and support prioritization of efforts to optimize our quality measure
Interface with stakeholders to engage on data questions, develop new analyses, and present results
Collaborate with senior management, clinical leadership and peers to translate business and clinical information objectives into data analytics strategic/tactical business and systems development plans
Lead and manage efforts throughout BMCHS to develop industry‑leading strategies to measure quality and safety, evaluate current performance against appropriate benchmarks, track trends and develop strategies to evaluate the results of improvement work.
Maintain expert knowledge of key external vendors and information systems (e.g., Vizient, Medisolv, NRC, EPIC)
Develop and maintain ongoing dashboards to measure performance on hospital quality measures. Work with ITS group to automate/standardize as required. Examples of ongoing clinical reporting requirements include Mortality dashboards, CMS STARS, Readmissions, MassHealth Clinical Quality Incentive program, Leapfrog, LOS performance, ED performance, ambulatory operations, surgeon scorecard
Analyze data with appropriate statistical methodologies (e.g., regression analyses). Work with Data Science group within System Analytics where necessary to bring in necessary expertise.
Work with clinical leaders and front‑line staff to adapt workflows as necessary to ensure capture of clinical information needed for quality and patient safety analytics
Actively support the efforts of clinical departments, programs and clinical units to identify, obtain and actively utilize quantitative information needed to support clinical quality monitoring and improvement activities.
Provide effective direction, guidance and mentoring for direct and indirect reports. Will manage a team of 10-12 Managers, Analysts, and data abstractors. Actively work to help staff develop professional skills and meet his/her career goals. Create appropriate job descriptions and recruit and retain highly skilled analytics staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree, preference for concentration in economics, biology, biostatistics, data science, statistics, or computer science; Masters degree or above highly desired
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: None
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 12 years work experience, with at least 8 years of experience working in hospital quality, healthcare information management, healthcare analytics, or other relevant healthcare field.
Experience managing teams and in driving major cross‑functional projects
Experience with CMS quality programs
Experience with electronic medical records systems

Compensation Range: $130,500.00- $189,000.00
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market‑competitiveness.
