Operations & Maintenance Technician (Level 3)
Join New Energy Equity as an Operations & Maintenance Technician Level 3. In this role, you will lead complex inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on solar energy systems, while providing guidance and training to junior technicians and ensuring our solar projects operate at peak efficiency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Safety: Perform work in accordance with safety policies, review and ensure correct PPE, create PLOTO and LOTO switch plans, and lead Pre Job Briefs and Job Safety Analysis.
Inspections & Preventative Maintenance: Lead comprehensive inspections of solar power plants, develop and implement preventative maintenance programs, and supervise and train junior technicians.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues, utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software, and develop corrective action plans.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs, and prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
Learning & Knowledge: Stay current on industry trends, provide technical guidance and mentorship, contribute to training materials, and maintain documentation oversight.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
2‑4 years of experience in the solar industry or related field.
OSHA 30‑hour and NFPA 70e certification.
FAA Part 107 Certification.
Proficient in operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes.
Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy technologies, and grid‑tied systems.
Proficient in diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and isolation testers.
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to lead junior technicians in the field.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Drive a vehicle confidently and safely.
Stand for long periods and walk up to three miles a day.
Navigate ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps while maintaining three points of contact.
Maintain visual acuity for depth perception and color discrimination.
Work in extreme heat (>100°F) or cold ( Exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, or 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The expected annual compensation range for this position is $80,000 – $100,000, encompassing base pay and potential incentive target opportunity. This position may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, including Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance, Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, and paid absences.
