What We’re Looking For To succeed in this role, candidates must have:
Experience 3+ years of inpatient facility coding
experience Background in
academic/university or high-acuity hospitals Strong DRG assignment skills Productivity expectations of
1–2 charts/hr 95% accuracy
quality score Experience with
Epic
+
3M Comfortable receiving QA feedback
Certifications (Any of the following): CCS ,
RHIT ,
RHIA ,
CPC , or similar AHIMA/AAPC credentials
Responsibilities As a Hospital Inpatient Coder, you will: Assign accurate
ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS
and applicable DRGs based on official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic guidance Work closely with the Coding Manager to identify key documentation for quality and reimbursement Support billing, research, regulatory compliance, and internal/external reporting Ensure the accuracy of DRGs and core data extracted into the HIM abstracting system Learn foundational query writing and collaborate with providers, CDI, and clinical teams Maintain required productivity and
95% coding accuracy
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred) 2+ years inpatient coding experience , including: Ambulatory surgery Observation ED Diagnostic coding Familiarity with coding books and official guidelines AHIMA or AAPC certification (CPC, CPC-H, CCA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P)
