Summary Under the direction of the Programming Manager, the CC Program Coordinator organizes therapeutic programming to meet the physical, intellectual, spiritual, creative, recreational, social, and emotional needs and well‑being of the residents in Continuing Care. 50 % of the time is spent stimulating resident well‑being, and 50 % is spent managing staff and overseeing programs in the absence of the Programming Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains Erickson Senior Living’s philosophy and Vision statement; designs, plans and facilitates structured, guided, and impromptu programs for individuals and groups in common areas and resident rooms.
Escorts and ensures the safety of residents on group trips and excursions.
Works collaboratively with team members, management, community groups, volunteers, and families to deliver enriching activities.
Assesses changes in resident needs, abilities and preferences to provide beneficial, purposeful, and enjoyable programs.
Creates program supply lists, maintains supply levels, and ensures safe operation of equipment.
Participates in team discussions regarding programming, schedules, trips, events, staff scheduling, and resident issues.
Prepares and plans activity programs according to the schedule and guidance of the Program Manager.
Implements and supervises group and individual activities in activity spaces, common areas, and resident rooms.
Motivates and assists participants during activities/programs.
Sets up activity equipment such as tables, instruments, and electronics.
Follows a flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings as determined by the Programming Manager.
Completes state and federal required documentation as directed by the Programming Manager.
Collects and records information by conducting resident or family interviews and reviewing documentation for assessments.
Participates in care‑plan conferences to provide vital information regarding programming involvement.
Under the Guidance of the Programming Manager the Programming Coordinator Provides an environment that promotes and supports an active, healthy, and independent lifestyle in accordance with residents’ abilities. Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs activity programs. Adapts programming based on resident abilities, both physical and cognitive. Documents weekly schedules, holistic assessments, care plans, and MDS. Markets CC programming philosophy internally and externally. Provides oversight of customized resident services, creates schedules and event flyers, selects and supplies activity items, evaluates staff, and maintains operational records. Executes own professional development and maintains compliance with regulations.

Understanding of the dementia process.
Independent thinker, self‑motivated, organized, flexible and dependable.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Advanced computer skills required.
Willingness to learn and basic understanding of resident needs.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and multitask.
Exceptional customer service, problem‑solving, time‑management, and leadership skills.
Flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings as determined by the Programming Manager.
A strong team player willing to develop and foster teamwork.
Enthusiastic and passionate about working with seniors.
Experience with or willingness to learn electronic medical records and documentation.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of 4 years of Recreation/Activities/Programming experience or 3 years as an ESL Programming Assistant.
Experience leading groups of people with varying levels of physical and cognitive independence, and experience with the elderly.
Flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings required.
Language Skills Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate in the English language.
Licenses, Certificates, Registrations Certified or eligible for certification (ADC or CTRS) preferred.
Physical Demands Must be able to lift 50 lbs from floor to waist, transport a resident in a wheelchair, walk for long distances or periods, push weights up to 250 lbs, kneel, bend from waist to floor, stoop, twist torso laterally in all directions, and grasp small and large objects.
Work Environment Resident programs are conducted in a variety of settings including resident private rooms, common areas, patios, shuttle bus, and outside venues such as parks, arenas, theatres, and restaurants. Staff are exposed to seasonal weather changes.
