Overview: The Nurse Manager is responsible for the development, performance, and management of clinical patient care for nursing, medical assistants, and other team members in clinical support roles.
Essential Duties
Manages the clinical support team; implements and provides oversight of clinical care delivered by nursing, medical assistants, and ancillary care team.
Establishes work assignments and priorities for nursing, medical assistants, and ancillary staff; responsible for management oversight of health center equipment, examination rooms, infection control standards, CLIA and Radiology regulations, compliance with Standing Delegation Orders, and emergency events; monitors compliance with standards of care for on-site treatments and procedures, medication administration, and timely and quality clinical workflows.
Works with the practice administrator to ensure the clinical services team supports the overall operational and fiscal activities of the site, including staffing levels, budgets, financial and operating goals, and meeting productivity and quality goals.
Approves payroll and time off requests; in partnership with the practice administrator, administers performance evaluations, recruitment, selection, monitoring, and orientation of new hires; responsible for coaching and counseling staff.
Participates as an effective member of the site Triad management team to support continuous improvement; routinely acts as the site lead in the absence of the Practice Administrator.
Ensures timely assessments, interventions, and measurement for corrective action strategies when needed; solves patient issues to ensure expected results; assures quality care philosophies and standards.
Maximizes quality outcomes for patients through appropriate utilization of systems.
Serves on CUC committees as assigned.
Adheres to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and other governing agency regulations.
Establishes a compassionate and respectful environment that values teamwork, integrity, and dependability.
Maintains supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needs, approving requisitions and cost allocations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
High level of skill at building relationships and providing excellent customer and patient care.
High degree of knowledge and competency in nursing practice and documentation requirements.
Requisite skills and ability to perform assigned nursing tasks.
High level of problem solving skills to better serve patients and staff.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong application of Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
People, Department & Business Unit Management
Develops communication processes to support quality of care and patient experience.
Participates in the clinical triad to formulate interventions across CUC multi-disciplinary departments to support standard care and compliance with regulatory standards.
Develops and manages professional relationships in a complex healthcare environment.
Collaborates with providers and healthcare team members to meet the needs of CUC patients.
Minimum Education Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Minimum Experience
Three years of clinical experience, preferably in a primary care setting or ambulatory clinic with a focus on general nursing care.
Experience leading teams with clinical quality improvement, clinical workflow development, patient care coordination, preventative health, and nursing triage.
Three to five years progressive management/leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission standards, HIPAA regulations, Patient Centered Medical Home, and Value Based Care.
Preferred Experience Five years experience in a primary care setting or ambulatory clinic with a focus on general nursing care; project and change management experience in a leadership capacity.
Required Certifications & Licensure
Unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas.
Current CPR course completion card.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure AAACN Certification.
Required Courses/Completions CPR obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Network.
