Job Purpose Provides field direction for one or more pipe crews and executes project objectives; promotes safety, quality control and constructs the project through administrative direction of the Project Manager and Superintendent, as well as mentoring the tradespeople.

Essential Duties

Promote job site safety, create and implement safe work practices.

Perform daily safety checks.

Provide leadership and supervise crews.

Perform quality control inspections.

Quantify materials needed for given tasks (forms, pipes, nuts, bolts, etc.).

Delegate tasks to crew members and hold them accountable.

Maintain understanding of labor budgets and productivity to accomplish scheduled activities on time.

Record quantities daily.

Organize materials, tools, and equipment.

Be willing to work overtime and out of town as needed.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Superintendent.

Mentors tradespeople.

Works closely with Project Manager and Project Engineer.

Proficient in personnel development and recruiting field personnel.

Kept current with technology (surveying, tablets, smartphones, etc.).

In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, safety, equipment, and labor productivity.

Excellent organization, leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Proven development of tradesmen.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience

On‑site self‑perform large pipe experience required.

Formal apprenticeship training or equivalent experience preferred.

Journeyman improvement classes or equivalent experiences preferred.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals; write daily task planners and safety plans; speak effectively before customers or employees; communicate across varied project types.

Mathematical Skills Ability to perform calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages) and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions; handle problems with multiple concrete variables.

Computer Skills Familiar with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Viewpoint, smartphones, tablets, and total stations; read and understand project drawings and specifications.

Other Skills Construction knowledge and skills for self‑perform work including carpentry, concrete, sitework, mechanical systems, process equipment, process piping, surveying; knowledge of contract plans, specifications, ADA requirements, building codes.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; motor vehicle report required.

OSHA 10 hours required; OSHA 30 hours preferred.

Physical Demands Heavy physical exertion; high manual dexterity; high stamina and endurance; regular attendance; overtime, overnight travel, long distances; work in cold, hot, dusty, loud environments; compliance with all safety policies.

Work Environment Loud noise level typical on site.

Drug and Alcohol Screening Required screening and transportation to/from job site.
